Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is a cave monastery, that was built in 1051. Since then the Lavra has been a preeminent center of Eastern Orthodox Christianity in Eastern Europe. Its large territory full not only of beautiful temples, but also museums worth a peek

Great Lavra Belltower

Built in 1731-1745, the bell tower is the most recognisable building of the Lavra. For additional cost one can climb all the way up and admire a stunning view from the top

Dormition Cathedral

Original church was built in 11th century by the cost of Sviatoslav II (son of Yaroslav the Wise) and remained the main church of the Lavra

In 1941 the cathedral was destroyed either by nazi troops or retreating soviet army

In 2000 the cathedral was completely restored

Refectory Church

Was constructed in 1893-1895. This is where Lavra monks had their meals. The church is famous for its modernist decorations inside

A place with an outstanding exposition collection of ancient treasures found in Ukraine, including Scythian Golden Pectoral

Golden Pectoral is a breathtaking masterpiece of the ancient world. Produced in 6th century BCE by Greeks of modern Crimea for Scythian royalty

The Scythians were an ancient nomadic people inhabiting Eurasia, including territory of modern Ukraine, from approximately the 7th century BC until the 3rd century BC.

Collection of the museum also includes treasures of ancient Kyivan Rus and even middle age Arabic Dirhams

Hidden gem


A wonderful view over the Dnipro River and Mother Motherland monument opens right next to the icon-painting workshop
