Park of Eternal Glory

Park of Eternal Glory is a large park area dedicated to the victory against Nazis in the Second World War

Despite the fact that the Second World War started in 1939 with Nazi Germany and USSR invading Poland from opposite sides, the numbers by the entrance to the park say “1941-1945". This is because soviet propaganda desired to hide the fact of soviets invading Polands, therefore “Great Patriotic War" term was invented. This term marks the period starting from Nazis invading USSR in 1941 and ending with Germany signing Instrument of Surrender on the 9th of May in 1945

The eternal flame under the monument symbolises mourning for all who died fighting in the war
